In 2 weeks I'm headed to Seattle with my parents, with whom I get along very well.  There are a lot things we want to do and see, primarily "tourist" stuff, but we also would like some off the beaten track/can' t-be-missed-whil e-you're-here ideas.

Are there any breweries/wineries within the city that are exceptional?
What about restaurants or shows (theatre/comedy/etc) or exhibits?

The ballard locks are not in the city, but can be a good excursion.

Buses are FREE downtown if you are staying in the area.  You can easily fill two days between the pike place market and pioneer square. Seattle now has these folks on bicycles with bright yellow jackets who help people downtown. If you need help or advice while out, ask them.  They have maps and advice for tourists. They also try to keep the pan handlers away from the store fronts.

Sometimes you can get half price day of show tickets if you go to one of the actual locations, one of which is in the Pike Place Market.

For a true Seattle dining experience, take yourself to Union Restuarant at 1st and Union! I was there this past weekend (visiting from San Francisco) and had a great experience. It would probably be a "nice" meal out for the weekend, and definitely worth the splurge. Have fun!
